I used to stay with my Nan in Cornwallis Terrace in the 1960s when I lived near Addlestone Surrey. I really loved Hastings (and Bexhill where she lived previously)She lived in 'Eagle House' at the end of the terrace next to the alley way that goes up past the sorting office to the railway station. The Eagle is still there!!! At the pinnacle of the roof at the end of the terrace. I remember Nan pointing that out to me. Been trying to work out where the old Albert memorial clock would have been. It must have been in that kind of square at the bottom of Havelock Road judging by the adjacent buildings.Love all the old Victorian buildings there like Cornwallis Terrace. I used to play sometimes in Linton Gardens when I was a small child. Such HAPPY memories of Hastings. LOVELY old seaside town!!! I miss my Nan so much...she died in 1980. She was always so Happy and laughing often. My Dad's Mum.
